If you’re a fan of Amazon Echo devices and are looking for a way to use Alexa with your computer, you’ve come to the right place. The new Windows 10 version of Alexa allows you to interact with Alexa as if you were using the Echo device. In addition to the usual skills, you can use Alexa to set reminders and alarms, make a shopping list, and even control smart lights with your voice.
In addition to the new Alexa app for Windows 10, Amazon has also made their Alexa voice assistant available for mobile devices. The app is currently available in the U.S., Germany, and the U.K., but more regions will be coming next year. Additionally, Amazon and Microsoft have rolled out a public preview of the integration between Alexa and Cortana. With the integration, Alexa users will be able to access Cortana features such as email reading and booking meetings.
To start using the Alexa app on Windows 10, click on the Start button (located on the bottom-left corner of the screen, next to the Windows logo). Select the Alexa app. Note that the app responds to voice commands even when it’s running in the background or minimized. Moreover, you can turn on the “push-to-talk” mode by pressing the “Push-to-talk” button located at the top-left corner of the window.
